Setting your goals is just the first step in a thousand mile journey. For some it is easier than others because they have more clarity about what they want.
For others it is harder because they don’t know if they want more or if they want less. One of the best indicators of whether a person will be successful at attaining a goal is whether it is a S.M.A.R.T. goal.
Specific. Measurable. Attainable. Relevant. Time-bound.
Meaning that a goal has to be as specific as possible. Saying “I want to be debt free,” is not specific enough.
Paying off discover, bank of America, chase, and have a 0 balance on all three cards by the end of next year is more specific. It is more relevant and it is time-bound. Having a time limit on your goals is the next most important thing to a specific goal.
We discuss goal setting throughout the Online University and give a detailed map inside the debt settlement system.
